MY HAIR STORYDecember 7, 2016 - Author: Omonioboli - 48 Comments
Trust you are well. I am too thanks for asking! Lol. Every once in a while, it will be nice to just leave a ‘how are you doing today’ comment. Believe me, I read all the comments and I appreciate them.
So I decided to take a little break from writing (yes another script. You will love this one! Can’t wait! ) to gist you about my hair.
It’s no secret how in love with my hair I am. I still maintain that going natural is one of the best decisions I ever made…for my hair and even as a life decision. My relationship with my hair is almost spiritual. I truly love and take care of my hair. I never used to. My hair used to be just another accessory.
I sincerely can’t tell you why I went natural but I’m sure glad I did. I didn’t have bad permed hair, my hair wasn’t falling off or anything and I didn’t particularly like ‘Naturalistas’ lol. I thought they many times with a few exceptions looked unkempt but I wanted to try something new so I went natural. I transitioned for a couple of months and then I did the big chop!
With the big chop came freedom! I loved my tiny winy Afro! I still miss ‘her’ sometimes. I loved the feel and texture of my hair and I knew I was hooked for life. I did a lot of research, watched hair styling videos and boy did I have fun twisting and braiding and doing wash and gos.
I try to wash my hair about once every two weeks, I deep condition at least once a month, sometimes more. It depends on what I feel my hair needs. I do hot oil treatments sometimes as a deep condition. I use my spray bottle everyday because natural hair loves moisture. So I spray my hair with water, use a leave-in conditioner and then a light oil to seal.
I also henna like once every two months or so. Sometimes I do a DIY deep conditioner with yoghurt, honey and oil. I’ve heard of all sorts of DIY conditioning but I haven’t tried a lot of them. Have you? I would love to hear your experiences in the comments. Also if you have any questions, fire away! I will do my best to answer all.
We’ll chat soon! Hugs and kisses
