Hello yummy mummies! So it’s the month and something significant about May is children’s day… every May 27, we roll out the drums to celebrate our children, bet you all are pretty excited and can’t wait to celebrate the day with our children. Ok, so when it’s mother’s day we all expect a gift and some special treatment, when it’s father’s day, the men also expect some pampering and a gift perhaps! Moms and dads let me ask you, what special thing are you doing for the kids this children’s day? Hmmm… I’m sure so many of you haven’t even thought about it, what do you think your kids would like on children’s day?
Just while I was thinking about this something interesting came to my mind; Good nutrition and those vital nutrients that help kids grow every day.

Good nutrition is very important for everyone, but it is especially important for children because it is directly linked to all aspects of their growth and development. Children who lack the vital nutrients in their meals could be missing out on some essential nutrients that are needed for their growth and development. These are nutrients that contribute to excellent growth, clever minds, physical stamina, and great overall health which will take them into adulthood. This is something important that parents should pay attention to it and ensure that their children enjoy the right amount of nutrients in their meals. It is not uncommon to see children who are functioning below capacity, probably not doing well in school, even childhood obesity and all these can be tied to nutrient deficiencies. This children’s day, let’s commit to good nutrition for our children, make a pledge to vital nutrients that will help your children grow every day.

My 10 year old son Chizi recently drew a pencil portrait of me and I was so impressed at the portrait. Infact I’ve fallen in love all over again. I can barely describe to you the excitement he felt when he completed the portrait. He was so incredibly proud of what he had accomplished especially as it was his first attempt at drawing me too. And I can tell you that with continuous practice he will become Nigeria’s own Pablo Picasso or Leonardo da Vinci. I use Chizi as an example here because I believe he’s had the proper nutrition to help him develop mentally and physically and he’s showing amazing talent every day.

Moms, there’s nothing as fulfilling as having a healthy child and seeing his/her growth progress daily. Give your children that balanced diet that they need to grow every day. Meals rich in vitamins A,B,B1,B2,B5,B6,B7,B12,C,E,K and minerals are what the kids need.
You can get these essential nutrients in fruits and vegetables, wholegrains (such as brown rice, wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta), beans and lentils, lean meat, fish, nuts and dairy products; cheese, yoghurt, and of course Nunu milk. I’m a proud super Nunu Mom and I’m proud to say that Nunu milk contains all the vital vitamins to help your child grow every day.
As parents, we are an important influence to our children and can do so many things to help them develop and grow with healthy eating habits for life. Creatively infuse milk into your children’s meal and snacks. Try smoothies with milk, milk shakes, and fruits, keep fresh fruit on the table always, try new foods yourself and encourage your kids to eat healthy. #GrowEveryDay #ProudNunuMom #Childrensday
